Preference is given to students from the City of Lancaster and rural areas. Prospective students must demonstrate a clear commitment to and a potential for music, have the recommendation of their teachers at school, and be interviewed by an Academy representative before being accepted into the program.

An Academy faculty member monitors the program to help ensure that the students are successful in attaining the goals that are set in their program of study. Students in the Bravo! Program may be recommended for the choir program at the Academy as a precursor to enrolling in private lessons. One of the goals of the Bravo! Program is to prepare students to audition for a merit scholarship through the Academy Scholarship program.
